Chelsea midfielders Enzo Fernandez recorded the video
Argentina players were heard chanting a racist song towards the French in a video posted to social media by their star Enzo Fernandez. The Chelsea midfielder had been on Instagram Live while celebrating on the team bus after they arrived back in Buenos Aires to celebrate winning the Copa America, when a particular chant could be heard.
After being translated by Spanish speakers, the Argentine players had been singing: “They play for France, but they are from Angola. His mother is Nigerian, His father Cameroonian, But on the passport, they’re French.”
This had come after Argentina fans had been reported to have sung another offensive chant towards a French player in Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe, with the chant said to have the words: “They —- transvestites like ——- Mbappe,” a chant aimed at the striker for his reported relationship with Ines Rau.
Hundreds of fans have reacted to the chants across social media, with many being disgusted by their words as well as Fernandez proudly recording himself while singing them.
