Kevin De Bruyne says it is “hard to say what will happen” regarding his future with Manchester City.
De Bruyne added that he is expecting to hold talks with City once he returns to the club following the European Championship and a summer holiday.
The 33-year-old midfielder has one year left on his City contract and has attracted interest in his services from clubs in Saudi Arabia. The Athletic has reported that he would be open to a move to MLS either this summer or next.
Speaking ahead of Belgium’s Euro 2024 last-16 tie against France, De Bruyne told Belgian outlet HLN: “I’ve read a lot of headlines, but I haven’t spoken to anyone.
“I hope I can last a few more years. Everyone knows I’m under contract at City for another year. And that I haven’t talked to anyone yet. I assume there will be talks with City in the next few months.
“If not, I will have to look for something else. But it’s hard to say what will happen. My summer will be very quiet. I will enjoy my holidays. And then I will return to City.”

De Bruyne has been a key player for City since his move from Wolfsburg in 2015, helping the club win six Premier League titles in nine seasons and their first-ever Champions League in 2023.
Despite a long-term injury limiting him to just 26 appearances during the 2023-24 season, he remains an integral member of Pep Guardiola’s squad having scored six goals and provided 18 assists last term.
When asked about the importance of money to him amid reports of him being offered a lucrative contract from a club in the Middle East, De Bruyne said: “Look, I have more than enough money. I know that well enough. If a silly amount is offered later, then that’s not for me.
“That’s for all my family, my friends, my children, my great-grandchildren, my children’s neighbours.”
De Bruyne has started all three of Belgium’s three Euro 2024 games, scoring one goal. If Belgium beat France, they will face the winner of Portugal and Slovenia in a quarter-final on July 5.
