Liverpool boss Arne Slot is reportedly assessing the talent he already as at Anfield
Liverpool have delayed bringing in fresh faces as new boss Arne Slot is reportedly assessing the talent he already has on Merseyside. The Dutchman took over from Jurgen Klopp earlier this summer after the German quit Anfield following an eight-and-a-half year reign in charge of the club.
Liverpool had already secured the services of midfield geniuses Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister by this time last year.
But their only piece of transfer business thus far this summer has been the departure of Calvin Ramsay, who has joined League One side Wigan on loan.
According to The Athletic, Slot wants to evaluate the merits of the players he has inherited before deciding on where each of them fits into his plans.
The 45-year-old has already analysed footage of countless matches and training sessions since arriving in England and now wants to see his players close up in the flesh.
This summer’s Euro 2024 and Copa America tournaments have also had an impact on the lack of transfer activity as players tend to put their club futures on hold while they focus their efforts on representing their countries.

Liverpool have been busy behind the scenes planning for the new season and are said to have a strong interest in Lille centre-back Leny Yoro.
The club have also been linked with the likes of Newcastle ace Anthony Gordon, Bologna centre-back Riccardo Calafiori and Bayern Munich right-back Joshua Kimmich.
And discussing Liverpool’s Premier League prospects during his first Reds interview last month, Slot explained: “I think 82 points [last season] is a result of [the] playing style.
“Always the points you get is always a result of the way you play. I’ve seen many games already, I’ve seen many training sessions as well. Of course the fans can see the games, so they know we have some very good players.

“But I’ve also seen a lot of training sessions already and I think this is where you bring the culture, and they are always working hard – like the fans see during the game.
“[A] real good team, real good players, managed to be on top for a very long time, but I think in the end we would all love to see Liverpool a bit higher than third place and this is the challenge we are facing now – to build on from what we have.
“I have all the confidence in this because of the players, that we can add a few things where we hopefully can get a bit more points than 82, which is necessary with the likes of Arsenal and [Manchester] City, to end up hopefully a bit higher than we did this season.”
