The transfer window is now becoming a hive of activity, as teams bid to seize a march on their rivals and get early deals wrapped up and concluded.

A busy weekend saw a host of clubs clinch seals, as the looming deadline to satisfy Financial Fair Play regulations hung over many heads.

The likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa were forced into the market, with a string of knock-on effects being seen as a result.

As a new week begins, cogs are turning at Manchester United as the INEOS team work hard to get their first – of hopefully many – deals over the line.

On Merseyside Liverpool chiefs are locked in negotiations to secure a maiden signing for new boss Arne Slot, while in north London Arsenal are finding their transfer exploits rather tough.

Express Sport brings you all the latest updates and twists and turns, as they happen LIVE.

Arsenal release young duo

Arsenal have announced that young duo Reuell Walters and Amario Cozier-Duberry have left the club.

Walters made 23 academy appearances last season and also represented England at under-20s level. Cozier-Duberry, meanwhile, featured 24 times for the academy last term, bagging 13 goals and five assists.

“We wish Reuell and Amario the best in their future careers,” Arsenal wrote in a statement on Monday.

Liverpool transfer delay explained

Many expected Liverpool to have delved into the transfer market by now, after welcoming new boss Arne Slot and wanting to arm him with new weapons to succeed the Jurgen Klopp era strongly.

Yet, at present, no new acquisitions have been made.

It is somewhat surprising, given Liverpool have crafted a reputation as a club keen to move rapidly in the window.

Now, however, it appears the explanation lies in Slot actually wanting to see his squad in person, before major decisions are made.

As report the Athletic, there’s the added factor of Slot wanting to assess the merits of those he has inherited before making final decisions about where each of them stands in terms of his plans for the campaign ahead.

Spurs ‘being used by Real Madrid’

Tottenham icon Chris Waddle believes Archie Gray is using their interest in his services as a springboard for a future move to Real Madrid.

The north Londoners have reportedly hijacked Brentford’s move for Gray, who enjoyed a stellar breakthrough campaign with Leeds United last season.Last week, it was reported that Brentford made a £40million bid for Gray and went as far as arranging a medical. However, their offer was rejected by Leeds and Tottenham are now believed to be in pole position, with discussions said to be ongoing.Waddle believes Gray will use his potential move to Tottenham as a platform to join Real Madrid in the future, with the 18-year-old tipped to follow in the footsteps of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.

Man Utd bid made!

Things are really getting started now!

Reports in Holland confirm that Manchester United have made an ‘opening proposal’ to Matthijs de Ligt, with the player now waiting on Bayern Munich sanctioning his exit.

It is claimed that United have offered the 24-year-old a five-year contract. An agreement is reportedly likely to be reached between the Premier League club and the player, who is currently at Euro 2024 with the Netherlands.

Arsenal benefit as Chelsea star seals £22m exit

Omari Hutchinson has sealed an exit from Chelsea months after holding crunch talks over his future with former boss Mauricio Pochettino. The ex-Arsenal winger has rejoined Premier League newcomers Ipswich in a reported £22million deal.

Hutchinson helped Ipswich win promotion from the Championship last season. The 20-year-old scored 10 goals and provided five assists in the second tier.

He returned to Chelsea at the end of the Championship season and reportedly held talks with Pochettino over his future.

After signing Hutchinson from Arsenal only a few years ago, a transfer fee cut will now be making its way to the Gunners.

Liverpool talks begin

Liverpool have made contact with wantaway Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich, according to reports in Spanish publication SPORT.

It is reported that the Reds have made an early move, knowing that Arsenal and Barcelona remain interested, while Manchester City are expected to check in and offer the versatile star the chance to link up with Pep Guardiola again.

It is reported that Liverpool are willing to surpass any wage offer made by Barcelona, in hope of bringing the German ace to the Premier League.

Arsenal stalling on winger

Arsenal are yet to lock in and make concrete moves for PSV ace Johan Bakayoko.

The Gunners are still evaluating their options as Bakayoko is being eyed by several clubs this summer – given that the Belgium starlet is known to be available for transfer.

Speaking to Givemesport, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are biding their time.

While Arsenal are known to have been monitoring the youngster for some time, the deal at this stage remains as something which is deemed ‘not imminent.’

Man Utd saving big money

They need to start spending ASAP, but United have made a strong head start on saving money.

As the clock turned midnight on July 1, the contracts of six Manchester United players expired, removing around £42million from the club’s annual wage bill.

And the conclusion of the 2023/24 PSR window on the same night has handed Sir Jim Ratcliffe more freedom to make the first signings of his regime.

United are thought to have stayed in line with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) over the last year.

But while INEOS have been active in the background, they were undoubtedly restrained from making concrete moves in the first few weeks of the summer transfer window.
