Noah Okafor is undoubtedly a player with a lot of potential, not only has he shown this in his limited time for AC Milan, but the signing would not have occurred without hope for his future. However, the past 12 months have been difficult for the young talent.
When the seniors in your position are Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao, you are not going to be a starting player unless you perform miracles, but this will have been known to the Swissman before signing for Milan.
In the chances he did have, Okafor shone on occasions, scoring several last-minute goals, and assisting a few as well, and when he earned a call-up to the European Championship, it seemed his chance was ahead of him.
It has not gone that way, though. Instead, Okafor has yet to play a minute for the National Team, and his coach, Murat Yakin, has stated it is due to a lack of game time in the club season, but there have not even been any cameos, which is rare, especially for younger talent.
As Calciomercato.com now reports, the message from the Swiss camp must be a message to Fonseca, and to Okafor. The upcoming season will give the attacker a chance to prove himself, but he must challenge the setbacks that the mercato news is bringing.
If he doesn’t, it could be a continuation of summer for the youngster.
