PSG 'agree Neymar deal' with Saudi club as official transfer documents submitted

Bernardo Silva could be set for PSG move to replace outgoing Messi

Paris Saint-Germain have accepted a lucrative transfer offer for Neymar, according to reports. Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are believed to have slapped big money on the table, with the Brazilian threatening to join the exodus of attacking superstars at the Parc des Princes.

Lionel Messi has already left the French capital this summer, opting to begin a new chapter in his career with Inter Miami. Kylian Mbappe, meanwhile, is in the midst of a public row over whether or not he will run down the final year of his contract.

Neymar is up for sale, and PSG finally have a bite as Al-Hilal reportedly submitted an ‘important proposal‘ this weekend. According to RMC Sport, it has been promptly accepted by the French giants with the final decision now down to the player.

Talks are believed to be advanced between the parties, with Neymar’s entourage surveying official transfer documents while weighing up the opportunity in the Middle East.

Neymar is ‘tempted’ by the opportunity, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Reports place the 31-year-old’s prospective salary at more than £86million per year.

Al-Hilal have been on a mega transfer spree this summer, splashing out on Ruben Neves, Malcom, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Kalidou Koulibaly. They also submitted an eye-watering £259m bid for Mbappe back in July, which has not been followed up by the player.

If he takes up Al-Hilal’s offer, Neymar would become the latest global superstar to swap Europe for Saudi Arabia. Ballon d’Or winners Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema led the way by taking the leap of faith over the past 12 months.

There had been murmurs of a possible return to Barcelona for Neymar, and reports indicate that the winger and Xavi had been in contact. Chelsea were also linked but manager Mauricio Pochettino, who worked with the player at PSG, is presumed to be against a reunion.

Only once in the past six seasons has Neymar played more than 30 games in all competitions for PSG in a single campaign. The Brazil international has still put together an impressive record of 118 goals in 173 matches for the reigning Ligue 1 champions.

Luis Enrique made his managerial debut for PSG on Saturday night, fielding six debutants as Mbappe and Neymar missed out. His side’s lack of cutting-edge was evident as Lorient held them to a goalless draw.
