Rangers in 'very advanced' talks over biggest summer signing yet – sources

Rangers have had a bid accepted for Bayern Munich winger Yusuf Kabadayi, sources have told Football Insider.

The German giants have granted permission for the Light Blues to hold talks with the 20-year-old as he closes in on a move to Ibrox.

But a deal is not done yet as Kabadayi also has interest from Turkey but the Rangers move is, sources say, “very advanced” and is expected to get done soon.

Rangers have held extensive negotiations over a deal for the winger, who has one more year left on his Bayern contract and spent last season on loan at Schalke in Germany’s second tier.

The wide man, who is a Germany Under-20 international, scored five goals in 26 matches as he played a key role for the fallen giants.

Rangers have gone into transfer overdrive since the completion of the domestic season and have already completed four new signings.

Rangers set to sign Yusuf Kabadayi from Bayern Munich

They have confirmed the captures of Jefte and Clinton Nsiala, extended Oscar Cortes’ loan, and announced the arrival of Connor Barron on Friday.

Kabadayi came through the academy at Bayern Munich and signed his first professional contract in 2023, but is yet to make a senior appearance for the club.

Upon signing the two-year deal, he was immediately loaned out to Schalke, where he made 24 senior appearances last season and scored four goals.

Sources say the winger no longer has a future at Bayern, and the club are now set to cash in before his contract expires in 2025.

Given the player’s calibre, status as a Germany youth international and his current club, his arrival would be seen by many as Rangers’ biggest statement signing yet this summer.

In other news, Connor Goldson could seal an £8million exit from Ibrox.
