Clement Lenglet has impressed on loan at Aston Villa this season.
Aston Villa are unlikely to hold a medical if they are to sign Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet permanently, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that as the France international was monitored by the club’s physios throughout the 2023/24 season, they are aware of his physical condition.
The 28-year-old was not a regular starter but made 14 league starts still and has been tipped to join permanently.
He is also understood to not be keen on moving to Saudi Arabia, according to Sport on 5 June.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“Lenglet is unlikely to require another medical if Aston Villa sign him permanently in the summer.
“He has been under the care of the club’s physios for the entire season and has also played 20 games across all competitions.
“There were also no plaguing injury issues over the course of the season so it should be a fairly straightforward process with regards to his physical condition.”
Clement Lenglet could be a useful addition for Aston Villa
The Villans might consider resigning Lenglet this summer due to his experience and versatility in defence.
The club are set to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season and Lenglet’s familiarity with the team and the Premier League could be beneficial.
Additionally, his ability to play as a central defender or a full-back provides Unai Emery with tactical flexibility.
Furthermore, Lenglet’s loan spell at Villa Park showed his adaptability and professionalism, which could be valuable assets for the team’s ambitions in domestic and European competitions.
