Lewis Koumas during a Wales training camp after dazzling on his first call-up
Liverpool’s young talent, Lewis Koumas, left the Wales football team in awe during a recent training session.
Koumas received his first senior invite to the Welsh squad last month from manager Rob Page and is slated to feature in forthcoming friendly matches against Gibraltar and Slovakia.
The 18 year old player, who not only established his first-team debut under the management of Jurgen Klopp this season but also scored his maiden senior goal during Liverpool’s 3-0 triumph over Southampton in the FA Cup, made an impressive statement.
In footage shared on X (formerly Twitter), Koumas is seen performing a shooting drill, with one of his strikes hitting the back of the net, leading to an off-camera exclamation: “Oh my lord! “.
Only recently, Page disclosed why he opted to include Koumas in his team. He expressed: “How can I ignore it when he has done what he has done for Liverpool in the first team? “
He further added: “It would be foolish for me to ignore it. I have to use this little window we have to see him work and to see him train.”
According to Page, introducing fresh young players to the team environment, their training regimen, and preparation was indeed an easy process to manage.
He added: “It’s a no-brainer for me to expose some of the young ones now to the environment – to how we train, to how we work and get us ready for the Nations League in September and then the World Cup qualifiers.”
