Victor Osimhen is widely regarded as being Chelsea’s top striker target
Chelsea are reportedly keeping a close eye on Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez ahead of the summer transfer window. The Blues are desperate to acquire the services of a top-quality striker at the end of the season, with several options being explored.
Despite working with an already-pricey squad, Mauricio Pochettino has made it no secret that he believes that Chelsea need to splash in the summer transfer window. Reinforcements have been demanded in all departments, with player sales likely to fund some of the planned incomings.
A striker is a top priority at Stamford Bridge, with the club keen to provide Nicolas Jackson competition for the No. 9 spot – and as the 22-year-old has started to find a new lease of life on the wing in recent weeks.
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has been largely cited as Chelsea’s top striker target, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain also interested. The Nigeria international has scored 11 goals and assisted three in 17 league appearances for his side this season.

However, the 25-year-old is not the only striker in the Serie A that Chelsea hold an interest in. According to HITC, Martinez has also been shortlisted as a potential target for the summer transfer window by the Blues.
Osimhen remains the priority for Chelsea but Martinez has been deemed as the most likely alternative to the ex-Lille star, though it would take a significant offer to lure the versatile forward away from Inter Milan – who are confident that their skipper would snub the chance to move elsewhere at the end of the season.

An offer in the region of £80million for Martinez could prompt a re-think at the San Siro though, which may be within the realms of Chelsea given that they are insistent that they will sign a world-class striker this summer. A move for the Argentina international would certainly gain the approval of Lionel Messi, who has consistently talked up his international teammate over the years.
Previously, the Inter Miami star explained: “He’s spectacular. He has impressive qualities. You could tell he was going to be a great player and he is showing that. He’s very strong, really good one-on-one, scores a lot of goals and in the area, he fights with anyone, holds it up, he can turn, scrap to win it all on his own. He has a lot of quality. He’s very complete.”
