Liverpool boss Arne Slot is eyeing up the perfect January transfer window
Liverpool will be aiming to enter the new year at the Premier League summit after an incredible start to life under Arne Slot. The Reds headed into Christmas Day leading the way in the Champions League and with a Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham to look forward to.
Slot has overseen a smooth transition from the Jurgen Klopp era after succeeding the German in the summer and could even be quietly eyeing up a famous quadruple this season.
But the January transfer window will prove significant for the former Feyenoord boss, and Express Sport takes a look at how Liverpool could enjoy a dream month in the market.
Milos Kerkez signs
Liverpool are in need of a reinforcement at left-back, with Andy Robertson struggling to reach his usual heights this term after missing most of pre-season. The Scotland international was playing catch-up during the early stages of the campaign and has been forced to share game time with Kostas Tsimikas.
Robertson turns 31 in March, and his days of marauding up and down the left flank could be numbered. So Slot could attempt to tie up an immediate deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
The 21-year-old Hungary international has nailed down the left-back spot at the Vitality Stadium after joining the Cherries from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023 and has looked assured at both ends of the pitch.
Kerkez has bags of energy and shares Robertson’s attacking abilities so would suit Slot during the second half of the season as Liverpool battle for honours on all fronts.

Marc Guehi terms decided
Liverpool have been linked with Marc Guehi this month, with Slot’s team looking exposed in the absence of Ibrahima Konate.
Guehi missed out on a move to Newcastle in the summer and appears to be ready for his next challenge to establish himself at the top of the game after impressing for England at Euro 2024.
Slot may not be able to get his hands on Guehi in January, but could instead agree terms of a summer deal with the defender and his employers Crystal Palace to get a transfer over the line ahead of next season.

Key trio agree deals
Liverpool will be desperate to tie up the futures of blockbuster stars Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, with the trio all out of contract at the end of the campaign.
Slot should be able to keep Salah and Van Dijk if the Reds can present the duo with contracts they are happy to sign.
But Liverpool are in real danger of losing Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants pursuing the signature of the talented player.
Slot will have to work his magic to convince the England international of the long-term appeal of staying at Anfield and will be lauded for his man-management abilities if Alexander-Arnold does commit to the club by penning a new deal.
