Luis Diaz has reportedly made a decision on his future at Liverpool amid interest from Barcelona, who are said to be weighing up a move.

The winger has bagged seven goals in the Premier League this season, helping the Reds to emerge as the main title contenders. He remains tied down until the summer of 2027 but appears to be facing an uncertain future on Merseyside.

Diaz is said to have been in talks over a new and improved deal, but no agreement is forthcoming as things stand. He has been linked with a move to Spain since last summer, with Barcelona and Real Madrid among the clubs mentioned.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo say Barcelona have been keeping tabs on Diaz for some time, with Liverpool said to value their man at around £66million.

Sporting director Deco is believed to be a huge fan of his talents, but it seems any move could be a non-starter with Sky Germany claiming Diaz is more than happy in his current surroundings.

It is said that he feels ‘very comfortable’ at Liverpool and has no intention of engineering an exit in January or at the end of the season. He is also thought to have a ‘very good relationship’ with Reds manager Arne Slot.

The report adds that Liverpool are yet to receive approaches from Barcelona or any other teams, suggesting Diaz will be staying at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

It will come as a blow for Barcelona, who are said to view Diaz as the best fit to strengthen their attacking unit for next season. They are said to have other targets in the pipeline, with the likes of Nico Williams and Rafael Leao having been linked.

Diaz scored two goals in Liverpool’s recent victory over Tottenham, excelling in a central role despite being a natural winger. Ahead of the match, Slot was full of praise for the 27-year-old’s ability to fit into any position across the front three.

“People said a week ago that Darwin Nunez’s numbers aren’t high enough but he has now got a goal and an assist,” said the Liverpool boss.

“Lucho can play in that position. He has done very well for us in that role. He has played more games as a winger but we know he can do it. Darwin and [Diogo] Jota are there, but Lucho is definitely an option.”
