Ruben Amorim has hailed the full-time spat between Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo as “perfect” after Manchester United’s 2-1 comeback win against Viktoria Plzen. The pair were seen arguing over missed passing opportunities during two late counter-attacks, but Amorim praised their willingness to “fight each other” following the victory.

“Yes, and for me it’s perfect, we need to feel something,” the United boss commented. “In this moment, we need to feel something, if we need to fight each other it’s like a family, for me it’s a very, very good sign. We need to feel something and that is important.

“That is clear (that they care). When you don’t care, you don’t do nothing. When you care, you fight with your brother, with your father, with your mother.

“It’s a normal thing, it’s a positive thing, a healthy thing. So I let the players and the captain to calm down the things. If I think it’s too much I will go inside the dressing room. But it’s their space, they have to talk, to fight and for me it’s a very important thing.

“I am happy that we win the game and still fight each other, that is a very good thing. When you win and you fight with your teammate because you want to score one more, for me it’s a very good day for us.”

United’s triumph marked their first European away win since March 2023 and dealt Plzen their first home defeat since the same month.

United’s recent victory has propelled them into the automatic qualifying spots for the round-of-16, with two forthcoming clashes—a home fixture against Rangers followed by a trip to play FCSB come January.

Amorim reflected on the significance of his team’s resilience stating: “In this context, the way we give a goal to the opponent was important not to give up, so that’s a great message. Was not a great game but we manage to do these good things that are good when you are building a team and I think we deserved the win.”
