Real Madrid reportedly want Man Utd star Diogo Dalot
Manchester United have reportedly received contact from Real Madrid over a possible transfer for Diogo Dalot. It is claimed that the La Liga side value the Portuguese star at £41million in a surprise potential switch.
According to Spanish publication Relevo, Real are keen on Dalot despite expressing an interest in Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
United could use any discussions with Los Blancos to their own advantage as they seek to improve Ruben Amorim’s squad. There are several players in Real’s squad who would be good additions at Old Trafford if Carlo Ancellotti entertains a swap deal. Express Sport looks at five possible arrivals.
Arda Guler
With so much competition for places in Real’s attack, exciting teenager Guler can hardly get a look in. Euro 2024 viewers will be familiar with the Turkey star’s excellent performances at the tournament, and he is capable of repeating them consistently for a top club.
United’s left-footed attacking depth is hardly outstanding. Guler would perfectly suit the right-sided No. 10 position in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation.
Ferland Mendy
He would not solve all of United’s problems but Mendy would be a very suitable signing to compete with Luke Shaw. The experienced star has played an important role in Real’s success since joining from Lyon in 2019.
Not the most attack-minded left-back, the 29-year-old would still add good depth to a squad that lacks left-footed options. United would then be able to take their time to recruit a long-term wing-back.
Andriy Lunin
Amorim has continued Erik ten Hag’s theme of using Andre Onana over No. 2 Altay Bayindir in cup competitions, which suggests United need stronger competition in goal. Lunin has deputised excellently for Real and could do the same at United.
Thibaut Courtois is Real’s first-choice goalkeeper, and Lunin could look elsewhere. The Ukrainian may even fancy his chances of beating Onana to the No.1 position at United.
Brahim Diaz would be an excellent signing for Man Utd

Brahim Diaz
A return to Manchester would be an excellent move for Diaz. The ex-Man City star has made only three starts this season and has played only 307 minutes of La Liga action.
The two No. 10 positions are in need of attention and Diaz would be a suitable addition to Amorim’s squad. The 25-year-old is about to reach the prime of his career and needs more game time, which he might get at Old Trafford.
Fran Garcia
Garcia would make an excellent back-up at left-wing-back. The 25-year-old has solid ball retention skills and is improving defensively. United should probably be looking at stronger options, though.
