Liverpool duo Ibrahima Konate and Alexis Mac Allister have both been booked four times this season
Liverpool duo Ibrahima Konate and Alexis Mac Allister will be in danger of picking up one-match bans when the Reds host Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday. The pair have both received four yellow cards already this season and will miss next Wednesday’s trip to Newcastle if they are booked for a fifth time.
Liverpool have been in scintillating form this season and have opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table,
Arne Slot’s side have won 10 of their 12 top flight matches this term, with their only defeat of the campaign coming in their home clash with Nottingham Forest in mid-September.
Konate fought back tears on the pitch following Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday night as he received medical attention from staff, before hobbling off the pitch.
And he is a fitness doubt for Sunday’s encounter, with Liverpool boss Slot providing an update on Konate and Reds right-back Conor Bradley during his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
“They are still being assessed so it’s difficult to see how they are,” explained the Dutchman. “Let’s wait and see, but it’s never a good sign. Conor, we had to take him off, and Ibou didn’t walk off the pitch as he should after the fantastic game he played. Not a good sign.

Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate is a fitness doubt for Sunday’s clash with Man City
“Konate and Bradley are still being assessed – [it’s still] so close to last night – and I have just come off the training pitch, so we have to wait and see.”
Konate has formed a rock solid partnership with Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool defence this season, with the France international starting all but one of his team’s Premier League and Champions League matches.
Mac Allister, meanwhile, has started all but two matches in those competitions and bagged the opening goal of the night against Real as he fired the ball beyond the reach of Thibaut Courtois.

City will arrive at Anfield off the back of three consecutive Premier League defeats, with the Citizens suffering a humiliating 4-0 reverse against Tottenham last weekend after losing to Brighton and Bournemouth.
And Manchester United icon Gary Neville believes the Merseyside giants are primed to pick up all three points against Pep Guardiola’s side.
“I think Liverpool will win,” he stated ahead of the clash. “Looking at City at this moment in time, when you feel that intensity and passion that Liverpool have, I think they could run all over them is my gut feeling.”
