Cristiano Ronaldo purchased a greek island for his agent in 2015.
There is nothing Cristiano Ronaldo loves more than scoring goals. However, it’s because of the all-time great’s achievements on the field that he’s been able to embrace one of his favourite pastimes off it.
Unlike so many professional footballers, it’s not the golf course that occupies the 39-year-old when he’s away from the training pitch and his family, but a rather more expensive hobby.
Instead, it’s buying glamorous islands and luxurious mansions that ‘CR7’ loves, which is perhaps understandable when you consider is reported net worth of £613million.
Not just for himself either. Back in the summer of 2015, the Manchester United and Real Madrid icon was said to have given his agent Jordan Mendes a Greek island as a wedding present. Ronaldo was best man at the ceremony in Portugal, so duly obliged with a gift said to be worth around £2.5m.
And his own homeland isn’t now dubbed ‘Ronaldo island’ for nothing. Ronaldo owns a huge stretch of land on Madeira, not to mention the seven-storey house where he spent lockdown with partner Georgina Rodriguez and the couple’s children.
The £7m mansion is not his only property there either. Ronaldo is also the owner of his very own airport and the CR7 Hotel, both of which boost tourism on the island. He also has his own museum, consisting of memorabilia donated by the Al-Nassr forward himself.
Ronaldo and partner Georgina have plenty of properties to enjoy.
And this summer, it emerged that Ronaldo’s expensive hobby had extended into the UAE. Reports emerged that Ronaldo and Georgina has purchased land situated on a seahorse-shaped Jumeirah island just off the coast of Dubai.
Football’s record international goalscorer is thought to have capitalised on his £21m purchase by submitting plans for another mansion. Reportedly wanting it finished by Christmas, the house will add to his impressive property portfolio.
Ronaldo already owns homes in places like Madrid, Marbella, New York, Lisbon, and Turin. Overall, his properties have a collective value of around £80m, which actually amounts to a similar amount that Real paid United for his services in 2009.

Of course, his current deal in Saudi means money is never likely to be an object for Portugal’s favourite football son. He’s paid £62m a year by Al-Nassr, with that figure boosted significantly by image rights and commercial deals.
With his contract set to expire in June 2025, an expected extension is likely to see him pocket a similarly eye-watering sum of money. And while few would dare predict on how many professional goals he’ll end up on after thus far racking up 907, just how many islands he’ll end up owning is anyone’s guess too.
