The Carabao Cup is set to be whittled down to just eight teams as we edge closer towards the Wembley final in March. We’re at the stage in the competition where teams start taking it seriously, with this week’s results determining who makes it into the quarter-final draw.
With two matches already completed, the remaining fixtures are scheduled for this evening (Wednesday, October 30), with all of the Premier League’s biggest hitters in action. Liverpool face Brighton at the Amex Stadium, Newcastle are hosting Chelsea at St James’ Park and, in what could be the standout tie, Manchester City travel to Tottenham.
Elsewhere, Manchester United are up against Leicester City at Old Trafford in their first game since Erik ten Hag’s sacking, while Aston Villa are playing Crystal Palace at Villa Park. Meanwhile, Championship side Preston will hope to cause the biggest upset of the round as they host Arsenal at Deepdale. When is the Carabao Cup quarter-final draw?
However, it could be delayed if there is nothing to separate the two sides at full-time, with penalties having to be played first. There’s no extra time in the Carabao Cup until the semi-final stage.

The draw will be aired live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Ultra HDR for subscribers. It can also be watched for free on Sky Sports Football’s YouTube channel.

When will the Carabao Cup quarter-finals take place?
The fixtures are due to take place in the week beginning Monday, December 16. The exact dates will be announced after the draw has been made.
The schedule means there’s potential for a number of different fixtures to be repeated back-to-back, much like the game between Newcastle and Chelsea, who faced each other at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Potential repeat fixtures include Brighton vs Crystal Palace, Chelsea vs Brentford, and Manchester United vs Manchester City.
The winners from the quarter-finals will progress to the semi-finals, which will be contested over two legs. The first leg is scheduled for the week starting January 6, 2025, while the final will take place on March 16, 2025.
