Chido Obi-Martin has issued his say after grabbing the headlines following his extraordinary start to his Manchester United career.

After parting ways with Arsenal, the 16-year-old prodigy secured a switch to Old Trafford during the summer, a signing that was only ratified by the Premier League last month. And after a patient wait, the young talent delivered a scintillating performance for the Red Devils’ U18s.

On his full debut, Obi-Martin netted a sensational hat-trick within 14 minutes for United against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. With his first goal coming just 11 seconds into the game, Obi-Martin clinched the matchball before he was subbed at half-time during the 6-0 victory.

The striker has since sent a message to his fans on social media after his heroics, stating: “Happy to be back.”

Looking ahead, Obi-Martin will be desperate to continue his incredible streak during the week. The U18s are gearing up to face Leeds away on Tuesday.

His latest comments come after two heartfelt messages earlier this year, having previously lavished praise on Arsenal after confirming his departure.

“I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone at Arsenal for the past four years. The experiences and growth I’ve achieved here have been truly invaluable,” he shared on social media.

“A special thanks to the coaches, staff and teammates and Hale End. The memories made will always be remembered. Thank you once again for this journey. I wish everyone continued success and all the best for the future. Best regards, Chido Obi.”

He was then left over the moon after signing with Manchester United, stating: “A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dream. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now and can’t wait to see you. United for life.”

While Obi-Martin will be looking to make an impact on Manchester United’s first team in the future, he may have to wait patiently for his chance. Rasmus Hojlund was signed for a significant fee last summer but has had a slow start to his Old Trafford career.

Manchester United invested in their attack again this season with the signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, but the Dutchman has scored only once since then – that goal coming on his debut against Fulham.
