Arsenal may have to call upon youth team starlet Jack Porter for their Carabao Cup match against Bolton Wanderers due to concerns over David Raya. The Gunners are facing a selection dilemma following an intense 2-2 draw with Premier League champions Manchester City, which saw them reduced to 10 men.

With captain Martin Odegaard sidelined due to ankle ligament damage and Leandro Trossard serving a one-match ban, the team’s woes have been compounded by worries over Raya. The 29-year-old Spanish goalkeeper was seen limping after Sunday’s match, potentially paving the way for 16-year-old Porter to make his debut.

Despite reports suggesting Raya’s injury is not severe, Arsenal are likely to rest him for the Bolton game. Adding to the predicament, third-choice keeper Tommy Setford is also injured, leaving Porter, who turned 16 in July, as a potential option.

The young goalie has only played a few games for Arsenal’s Under-18 team and has one Under-21 appearance to his name, making a senior debut in the Carabao Cup a significant achievement.

Youngster Porter, who warmed the bench during Arsenal’s recent European encounter with Atalanta, officially joined the ranks as a scholar in July. Overwhelmed with joy, he took to social media to express his feelings: “Dream come true, delighted to sign for this amazing football club with such great history, would like to thank everyone who’s supported me throughout the years. Hard work carries on.”

While Raya’s appearance in the midweek match remains doubtful, insiders suggest he’ll be back defending the net when Arsenal face off against Premier League underdogs Leicester at home.

The capital city’s team is gearing up for a thrilling Champions League showdown with PSG at the Emirates, followed by a trip to Southampton before the squad disperses for the international break in early October.
