32-goal striker who was tipped to join Chelsea now wants Real Madrid move
Harry Kane is now keen to replace Karim Benzema at Real Madrid despite previously being tipped to join Chelsea.
That is according to MARCA in Spain.
So, what are the details involving Chelsea and Harry Kane? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, it was talkSPORT who claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is keen on a reunion with the England international at Stamford Bridge, after working with him at Tottenham.
Jermaine Pennant then claimed on talkSPORT that a very good source told him Kane could end up at Chelsea.
Now – however – it seems Real Madrid are the most realistic destination for the Tottenham No.10 this summer.
MARCA believe Kane is motivated by the idea of leading the line for Real Madrid after Benzema moved to Saudi Arabia, with the 29-year-old willing to uproot his family in order to play for the Spanish giants.
The Spurs talisman is also said to be Carlo Ancelotti’s No.1 option to fill the vacancy at centre-forward, so it seems a deal could well be on.
Real Madrid’s interest in Kane comes after he remarkably scored 32 goals in a very poor Tottenham side throughout the 2022/23 campaign.
Chelsea were always unlikely to sign Kane
In our view, this shouldn’t be perceived as a blow by anyone associated with Chelsea – it was always unlikely that Daniel Levy would sell his star man to a direct rival.
The London-born striker is a legend at Spurs after becoming their all-time top scorer, so it would have been a major shock if he tarnished his legacy to join Tottenham’s rivals Chelsea, especially as there is no European football on the schedule at Stamford Bridge next season.
Moves for the likes of Victor Osimhen and Dusan Vlahovic are far more realistic possibilities for Chelsea, so we would advise readers to keep an eye on those sagas rather than pay Kane any more attention this summer.
