Hunza remained an independent state for about 500 to 550 years started during early fiftieth century and ended on September 25, 1974. Hunza remained fully independent state untill 1992 while paying tributes to Muharaja of Kashmir for some time and Rulers of neighboring Kashghar for some time. During 1992 British captured the region and indirectly ruled through Mirs. After the creation of Pakistan on August 14, 1947 and liberation of Gilgit Baltistan on November 1, 1947, Hunza state remained under the Pakistani Political Agent under FCR. During these periods about 25 Mirs ruled the state. Below are the names of the rulers. The names written in red colors are not fully confirmed.
